ARCHAEOLOGICAL SURVEILLANCE

Archaeological surveillance of construction works has been carried out by the Slovak National Museum - Archeological Museum

In reducing the height of the floor surface by about 80-100 mm and removing the backfills, the archaeologists uncovered a brick-walled sewer indicating that these premises were used as stables. The sewer not only diverted wastefrom the stables, but is also diverted rainwater from the courtyard through the holes in the eastern wall, which caused leaks in the wall. Archaeologists and the castle historian believe that the sewer comes from the period before the rebuilding of the castle, i.e. from the 19th century. The experts have continue examining the finding.
